My name is Lilee Fry and I'm a 7th grader at Cherokee Charter Academy. I have two sisters names Hanna and Harper. Hanna is a 5th grader at Cherokee Charter and Harper is 7 years old. Harper has a rare genetic disease called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). She was diagnosed with MLD when she was 3 years old. Since then she has lost the ability to talk, walk, sit, and eat. She is on hospice care and my parents care for her.
On Wednesday August 21st my school had a fundraiser for Harper. We usually wear uniforms but that day we could wear purple and jeans for $1. The turn out was great and the support for her was amazing. We pulled in for carpool and saw purple balloons hanging all around and even a Minnie Mouse balloon. Minnie has always been Harpers favorite. Almost everyone in my class wore purple and all of the teachers and staff had on purple. It was an awesome day and it meant so much to me to see all the support for my family.
