Hickory Log Creek Reservoir Opens Soon
Make plans to attend the official opening ceremony on March 22 at 9 a.m.

CORRECTION: City of Canton Chief Financial Officer Nathan Ingram has pointed out that the correct closing time of the parking lot during non-holiday times is 5 p.m., not 7 p.m. as originally reported.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: The long-awaited and oft-debated Hickory Log Creek Reservoir will finally be opening to the public next week.
According to the City of Canton website, ceremonies are planned for 9 a.m. on Friday, March 22 at the entrance to the facility near Bluffs Pkwy. and Fate Conn Rd.

The 411-acre lake has been stocked with various species of fish, and will allow boats with electric or unpowered boats like canoes and kayaks to enter the water. Boats with gasoline or diesel powered engines are not allowed at the reservoir.
The 1-acre parking lot can accomodate approximately 40 vehicles with trailers attached. Parking will cost $5 a day per vehicle. The lot will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week, but open from 8 to 8 between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

The reservoir project has been mired in controversy, including massive cost overruns and disputes with Cobb County on who will own the water that empties into the reservoir itself.
"The City of Canton appreciates the patience of the public during the development and construction of the facility," wrote the city on its invitation to the opening ceremony.
