Highway 92 Resurfacing Kicks Off in Cherokee

The heavily traveled thoroughfare will get a face lift between Main Street and Cherokee Trail.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Motorists who rely on S.R. 92 in southern Cherokee County may have noticed some additional activity taking place this week during the overnight hours.

That's because a resurfacing project is underway on the major thoroughfare between Cherokee Trail and Main Street in the city of Woodstock, the Georgia Department of Transportation said.

Cherokee Trail is west of Interstate 575 near the Woodstock Square shopping center that houses SuperTarget.

The roughly $1.5 million project to resurface the highway is being conducted between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and could involve some traffic pacing, said Georgia DOT spokesperson Mohamed Arafa.

Arafa added that the contractor, Cartersville-based Bartow Paving, is expected to complete the work by Sept. 30.

As usual, motorists are advised to find alternate routes around the road work. If you are unable to do slow, slow down and proceed with caution through the affected area, as workers and equipment could be in close proximity to the roadway.
