Hobgood Faces Challenge From Former City Council Member

Qualifying has ended in the city of Canton, and residents will have three contested races on the ballot in the Nov. 3 municipal elections.

Incumbent Mayor Gene Hobgood qualified to seek a third term, and will face a challenge from former City Council member Pat Tanner.
Ward 1 will have just one candidate on the ballot -- former Council member Jo Ellen Wilson. Ward 2 is set to be a three-way race, with incumbent Jack Goodwin facing off with fellow candidates John Clark and Jeff Adams.

Ward 3 will include feature incumbent Farris Yawn, who will once face challenger Jim Busi. Both Busi and Yawn were candidates in the 2014 special election to fill the Ward 3 seat, which was vacated when Glen Cummins resigned to become city manager.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
