Holly Springs Offers Citizens Police Academy

The free academy teaches citizens all about the inner workings of police departments and methods.

From The City of Holly Springs: City of Holly Springs Police Department is currently accepting applications for the upcoming free Citizen’s Police Academy which begins on Monday, April 1st. This program is for all residents of Cherokee County.

The Citizen’s Police Academy has become an important and popular tool in uniting and strengthening the police department’s commitment to a safe city. The academy is a series of eight sessions which focus on varying aspects of law enforcement/citizen cooperation and creates a wonderful opportunity to peek inside the world of a police officer. The sessions include: modern American law enforcement, Uniform Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, crime scene investigations, criminal identification, decision making, “What would you do?” exercises, securing your home and your person, and presentations by special units. Of course, participants may also opt to accompany a police officer during a routine shift. Applications must return the application by March 22. For more information contact Det. Bettis at dbettis@hollyspringsga.us, 770-721-7526 or visit the City’s website at www.hollyspringsga.us., (select “Department”, “Police”, “Citizens Academy”).
