Cherokee County School District Elementary Science Olympiad winners are headed to the State competition!
Cherokee County School District Elementary Science Olympiad winners, including the champions from Liberty Elementary School, are headed to the State competition in May!
About 600 elementary students participated in the CCSD Elementary Science Olympiad recently held at River Ridge High School.
Sponsored by Cobb EMC and Gas South, the competition encourages students to explore new and challenging ways of solving problems as part of a team. The 18 contests require knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills and applications that are connected to Georgia science performance standards.

More than 100 first- through third-place awards were won by individual students. The Team winners were: first place, Liberty ES Team 1; second place, Woodstock ES Team 1; and third place, Knox ES Team 1. They are headed to the Georgia Elementary Science Olympiad on May 14 at Kennesaw State University. Three additional CCSD teams also will compete at the State event: Bascomb ES Team Blue, Boston ES Team 1 and Sixes ES Team Gold.
