Library, Media Specialists Promote Summer Reading in Canton

Five branches with the Sequoyah Regional Library System will host Zone Nights to get students to sign up for library cards.

CANTON, GA -- Media specialists in the Cherokee County School District are teaming up with the Sequoyah Regional Library System to promote summer reading for all students.

The following branches will be hosting Zone Nights over the next several days for students and their families to sign up for library cards:

  • May 16, 4 to 8 p.m., Hickory Flat Public Library
  • May 17, 4 to 8 p.m., Rose Creek and Ball Ground public libraries
  • May 18, 4 to 8 p.m., R.T. Jones Memorial Library
  • May 19, 4 to 8 p.m., Woodstock Library

Children who sign up for public library cards will receive stickers and/or bookmarks from the library.

Individuals schools are soliciting donations from community partners to provide incentives for students, as well.

For example, the Woodstock Innovation Zone is partnering with Woodstock Bruster’s Ice Cream to provide a free Italian Ice coupon to students who have signed up for a public library card.

To apply, families need to bring a photo ID and proof of a Cherokee County address (if not on the photo ID). You can click here to find the online application.
