Man Charged In Canton Dog Fighting Case

Nine dogs were removed from the man's home Tuesday, authorities said Wednesday.

CANTON, GA — An animal welfare check led to the arrest of a 58-year-old man Tuesday, according to the Cherokee Marshal's Office Wednesday.

Nine dogs were removed from a Union Hill Road home during a search, according to the marshal's office. The Cherokee Animal Shelter assisted with the removal.

Randall Larry Thaxton is charged on suspicion of nine counts of felony dog fighting and nine counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals, according to the marshal's office.
