In Memory: Arfellow Gates, 78

Arfellow Gates, age 78 of Canton, passed away on Aug. 12, 2016.

Visitation services are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and Monday, Aug. 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Canton. The Revs. Robert D. Holmes and Tyrone Gates will officiate the service. Interment will take place in the Hanley Cemetery located in LaFayette, Alabama.

Mr. Gates is survived by son, Tyrone and Fran Gates of Canton; son, Darron and Sandra Gates of Canton; and Maurice and Kandice of Oxford; daughter, Sharon Gearing of Canton; brother, Franklin Gates of Atlanta; brother, Darrell and Susan Gates of Payson, IL; nine grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Malon D. Mimms Boys & Girls Club at 10802 Univeter Road, Canton, GA 30115. Also in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you bring a sports item that can be donated to underprivileged children (bats, balls, gloves, etc).
