In Memory: Doris Saxon, 75, "Strong Advocate For Children"

Doris Saxon, 75 of Canton, passed away on Nov. 5, 2014, at her residence.

Visitation for the Saxon family will take place 3-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at Darby Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at Canton First United Methodist Church. Reverend Floyd Tenney and Reverend Joey Hatchell will be officiating.

Saxon is survived by her husband, Frank Saxon of Canton; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Sandra Saxon of Canton; son and daughter-in-law Lance and Mitzi Saxon of Canton; son and daughter-in-law Kent and Tracie Saxon of Marshallville; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Mark Belcher of Birmingham, Alabama; sister Patsy Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Doris was a beloved wife and mother to three sons and one daughter; grandmother to seven grandchildren and great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren who only knew her as Memaw. She was a strong advocate for children through local PTAs for many years and loved her hometown of Canton to her very core. She brought joy and happiness wherever she went and was loved by all who know her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
