In Memory: J.T. Whidby, 75, Retired Fire Chief

Jefferson Taylor "J.T." Whidby, age 75, of Canton, GA passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Heritage Hospice. Mr. Whidby was a long time member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a retired fire chief with 32 years of service.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Samples, and Rev. Horace Richards and Rev. Dana McPherson officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 31 and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 1 at South Canton Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by son, James Whidby; parents, Taylor and Myrtie Whidby; and father-in-law, Dewey Chamlee.

Survivors include wife, Barbara Whidby of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Andrea Whidby of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sharmon Whidby of Canton; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannette and Kent Samples of Canton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randall and Joy Chamlee of Canton; nieces, Jennifer Gabehart and Jodie Husley; nephews, Keith Chamlee and Kevin Chamlee; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Chamlee; and granddaughters, Rachel Whidby, Katie Whidby and Marissa Whidby.
