Roy Henry Reynolds Jr., age 83 of Canton, GA, passed away on Aug. 23 at his residence.

Visitation services are pending at this time. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Canton First United Methodist Church, with Dr. CR Hill officiating. The time is TBA.

Reynolds exemplified Canton, according to his son Frank. First in many regards:

1. Naval Aviator in 1952, possibly first for Canton

2. First Jet pilot of Canton

3. Georgia Tech graduate

4. Airline pilot

5. Carried the football chains at Cherokee High School for 30+ years

6. Substitute teacher at Cherokee High School

7. Father was mayor of Canton for 4 terms

8. Owned Reynolds Ford of Canton

“The best is his deeds for kids that had no money and bought them food and cloths,” he said.“(He) even bought the letterman jacket for a professional football player.”

Interment will take place at (the) Georgia National Cemetery. Survivors include wife, Eileen Reynolds of Canton, GA; son Roy Martin Reynolds of Canton, GA; son frank Alan Reynolds of Canton, GA; son Gavin Gerard Reynolds of Canton, GA; daughter Renee Reynolds Bickley of Canton, GA; daughter Leslie Leigh Bland of Canton, GA; daughter Michele Marie Prance of Canton, GA; and nine grandchildren.
