That’s because James Drane III, chief judge of the Magistrate Court of Cherokee County, has denied bond for Alyssa Kincaid, who is charged with one count of cruelty to children in the second degree in the death of Ciara Campbell, who died Sunday at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta after she’d been hospitalized for three days.

Kincaid was apprehended earlier this week during a traffic stop near Holly Springs, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office previously told Patch.

According to the warrant issued for Kincaid’s arrest, the Canton resident is accused of causing a child under 18 “cruel and excessive physical pain when allowed and/or did not stop Nicholas Campbell from causing cruel and excessive physical pain to her daughter.”

Campbell, Kincaid’s boyfriend, was arrested last week and charged with four counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of battery and possession of methamphetamine in connection to the child’s death.

The investigation started when emergency personnel and sheriff’s deputies responded to a child not breathing call on Thursday, Dec. 10 at a home off Magnolia Springs Drive, which sits off Toonigh Road near Holly Springs.

Crews arrived at the home, and initially transported Ciara to Northside Hospital-Cherokee for treatment. She was later transported to Children’s early Friday morning and subsequently taken off life support on Sunday, Baker previously told Patch.

Baker said “multiple injuries” to Ciara were discovered and after conducting interviews with Campbell, his mother and grandmother, he was arrested.

Funeral services for Ciara will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20 at Darby Fuenral Home in Canton. The family will accept visitors from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at the funeral home.

Ciara is survived by her mother, grandparents Thomas Kincaid of Holly Springs and Patty Dobbs of Canton; and great grandparents Bobo Dobbs of Woodstock, Janie Dobbs of Canton and Betty Watson of Holly Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Secret Santa for Foster Children in Ciara’s memory by visiting the Georgia Division of Family and Children Service’s website.
