MUST Construction Training Give Job Seekers An Edge

The free, three-day safety class will give entry-level workers a competitive advantage in qualifying for construction jobs.

MUST Ministries is partnering with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to host a free construction training and flagger certification class for job seekers June 1-3.

The class is hosted by MUST at 1407 Cobb Parkway N., Marietta, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The 10-hour program will cover the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in the construction workplace.

Participants will learn about their rights as workers, the safe and correct use of hand and power tools, ladders, scaffolds, cranes and personal protective equipment, as well as the proper procedures for materials handling, storage and disposal. The course also includes a Nation Safety Council flagger certification.

“Employers always seek the most qualified candidate,” said Beth Ray, Director of Program Services for MUST. “They report that if two candidates are equal, they will always select the candidate with the certificate to reduce training costs and increase worker safety.”

Interested participants can pick up an application at any MUST location, and will also complete MUST’s Back to Work workshop to establish base-line employment skills. Additionally, applicants will complete an interest inventory and must provide a copy of their resume, photo ID and social security number. Deadline for applications is May 25.
