The topping out ceremony to install the final beam in the medical tower, the tallest point of the new facility, marked the 40 percent completion point for construction of the entire hospital.

The facility, which will replace the current building on Hospital Road, will also include a medical office building and 900 parking spaces on a 50-acre complex. It will also expand the current bed count from 84 to 105.

It’s also expected to generate about 300 new jobs and utilize design elements that not only improve aesthetics and ease of patient navigation, but also maximize department efficiency and limit environmental impact, the company said.

The replacement facility is set to open its doors in mid-2017.

Northside Hospital has been tracking and sharing construction projects on its website. Updates on the projected two-year construction, which began in March 2015, include a live-feed camera, details about services and facility layout, and additional facts about the size and scale of the build.
