New Restaurant Planned for Downtown Canton

Queenie's will offer southern-style cuisine at the 151 Main building.

CANTON, GA -- The man who helped bring two longtime favorite eateries to downtown Canton is planning to expand what the culinary cuisine in the city's central business district has to offer.

Queenie's, a Southern-style restaurant and bar, is slated to open sometime during the first quarter of 2017, said owner and operator Zach Kell.

Kell's family is behind the successful launch of Goin' Coastal and Downtown Kitchen. The establishment will be located in the 151 Main building along West Main Street, and will feature fresh, made-from-scratch southern-style meals, Kell stated.

"it’s essentially going to be a meat and two," he added, noting diners will have their pick of eight to 10 different proteins and 15 to 20 side items. "It will be extremely simple and straight forward, and we will make everything 100-percent homemade."

Kell stated that there's a lack of restaurants in Canton that provide simple yet, high-quality quality, family-friendly eateries for the public to enjoy.

Another unique aspect of Queenie's? You will be able to use your mobile device to place take-out orders. Employees will receive the order, prepare the meal and residents can venture out to the restaurant and pick up their orders.

Queenie's will employ 20 to 30 people, which Kell said will add to the city and county's tax base and provide "another fantastic option" for dining in the city.

"We are just excited about the process and ready to serve Canton and Cherokee county," he added.

Kell's announcement comes on the heels of Local on North's plans to open at 170 North Street. According to Scoop OTP, the restaurant plans to offer various pizza choices as well as burgers and steaks.
