Police Increase Presence at School Following Rumor of "Threat"
The rumor of the threat stems from a dispute between two Sequoyah High School students, the Cherokee County School District said.

Additional police patrol units were dispatched to Sequoyah High School Thursday morning following a rumor of a threat that would take place.

The rumor revolved around a student at the school “who made a threat following a dispute with a classmate yesterday,” the Cherokee County School District said Thursday morning.
“It was investigated by the school administration and Cherokee County School District Police Department, who determined there was no danger posed to students or staff,” spokesperson Barbara Jacoby added.

Jacoby added the district informed the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office was advised of the threat, and the agency sent patrol units to the school Thursday morning “as a precaution.”
