Police Seeking Info On Person Shot Outside Canton Home

Investigators say the 22-year-old man was shot outside his home off Toonigh Road Monday night by two unknown men in hoodies who fled after.

CANTON, GA — Cherokee Sheriff's Office deputies are seeking information related to a man who was shot early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 2 a.m. Aug. 27, Cherokee Sheriff's deputies responded to a "person shot" call at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton.

Deputies made contact with David Pierre, 22, of Canton, who was being treated for a bullet wound to his chest.

The deputies said the shooting occurred at Pierre's residence on Toonigh Road. Deputies secured the house as investigators obtained a search warrant for the address. A single bullet casing was located in the yard outside the home.

Pierre said he was outside his house when two unknown men in hoodies approached him, fired once and ran.

Witnesses inside the home said Pierre received a phone call just prior to the shooting. Pierre was transported to Northside Cherokee initially by family members, but was later transferred to Kennestone Hospital and is being treated for his injury which appears to be non-life-threatening.

Investigators are asking anyone who lives near Toonigh Road and Ranchwood Trail that saw anything or anyone suspicious last night to contact detectives at 770-928-0239.

The incident remains under investigation, the Sheriff's Office said.
