Practically Perfect Day Spa Reopens in New Location

Lisa and Sean Furilla have moved their business into the Marie Archer Teasley home on East Main Street in downtown Canton.

CANTON, GA -- Practically Perfect Day Spa, a popular downtown Canton establishment, reopened May 12 in the historic Marie Archer Teasley home.

Business owners, Lisa and Sean Furilla, welcomed the opportunity to introduce clients to the large Victorian space at 361 East Main Street after several months of historic renovation and preservation. The company previously operated at 577 East Main Street.

The home, which belonged to Marie Archer Teasley’s family in the early part of the 20th century, is one of the last remaining Victorian homes in Canton, according to the Cherokee County Historical Society.

The home previously served as the location of Patzcuaro Mexican Restaurant. Additionally, the Marie Archer Teasley name lives on as a Cherokee County School District middle school.

When the Furillas chose the space as the new home for the spa, restoring the historic home was paramount.

The project included months of painting and repairing plaster walls, restoring the numerous tile fireplaces each with its own distinct tile pattern, and removing shelving units to open up the historic wavy glass windows.

“Seven years ago, I began the journey as a small business owner and we have grown right along with Canton," Lisa Furilla said. "We are excited to see where the future takes us and this beautiful city we call home.”

The Furillas also are currently working to restore the upstairs, which has been subdivided into small apartments. During this process, homeowner Mario Magana discovered historic documents that had been hiding behind several bricks in the attic.

Those documents, which date from the early 19th century and originate from northeastern United States, have been donated to the historical society for preservation and research.
