Preview: Budget, Fire Plan on Tonight's Agenda

The will meet at 6 p.m. tonight at City Hall.

Among the items on the agenda:

• Fiscal Year 2013 Budget. The council will have the second reading, discussion and possible action of the Fiscal Year 2013 budget. The proposed budget is $31 million, which is $2.2 million less than Fiscal Year 2012. Open the second PDF under the photo for the proposed budget. 
• Five-Year Fire Plan. Last Wednesday, the council met "to begin the development of a 5-10 year fire services plan." That was one of the requests from seniors who pleaded with the Canton City Council to postpone a  that critics fear will erase a decade of voter-approved senior tax exemptions. The council proceeded with the vote. Tonight, the council will have the first reading of that ordinance and continue discussions of its long-term fire needs.
