Preview: March 1 Work Session

Starting at 6 p.m., Canton-Sixes Patch will provide live video coverage of tonight's work session.

The Canton City Council meets at 6 tonight at . Among the items on the agenda:

  • Downtown Business Rental Subsidy Program. The council will discuss a rental assistance program that would bring businesses, vibrancy to the city's struggling downtown. Main Street Program director during the Feb. 2 work session.
  • Funding for Commerce Boulevard Extension to Highway 140. The has requested that the city reaffirm its commitment to contribute $1.4 million toward this $8.5 million project, which is necessary to make way for the proposed . The Georgia Department of Transportation will fund $4.3 million of the project while Northside and the BOC will contribute up to $1.4 million each.
