Qualifying Starts Monday For Canton Mayor, City Council Races
Candidates can qualify Aug. 31 through Sept. 2 at Canton City Hall.

Starting Monday, Canton residents who want to formally declare their intentions to seek public office can qualify for four seats up for re-election.

Qualifying for the 2015 municipal election will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31 through Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Canton City Hall.
Seats up for re-election include the office of mayor, held by Gene Hobgood; City Council seats Ward I, held by Hooky Huffman; Ward II, held by Jack Goodwin; and Ward III, held by Farris Yawn.

The fee to qualify is $300 for the office of mayor and $240 for the City Council seats. The city’s election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
