The program is part of a statewide effort to reuse Christmas trees. Since 1991 Bring One for the Chipper has collected more than six million trees and provided over one million tree seedlings to participants. Last year more than 250,000 trees were recycled.

The mulch from these trees has also been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects and individual yards.
