The student's production will be held Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 1-2 at the historic Canton Theater.

CANTON, GA -- Reinhardt University’s Theatre Program presents “Blithe Spirit” at the Canton Theater as part of the University’s Family Weekend.
Performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29-30, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and 7:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 2.
“Noel Coward's beloved comedy Blithe Spirit tells the story of writer Charles Condomine, who invites a psychic medium over one evening in the interest of researching his next novel,” said Director Morgan Brooks. “Unfortunately, the medium manages to conjure up the ghost of Charles's first wife, Elvira, much to the frustration of Ruth, his current wife. Through a series of hilarious accidents, Ruth is killed and ends up haunting Charles, as well. By the end, Charles is willing to go to any lengths necessary to rid himself of his ghostly spouses.”

“Blithe Spirit” won the 2009 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival. This much-revived classic from the playwright of Private Lives offers up fussy, cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine, re-married but haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira who is called up by a visiting "happy medium,” one Madame Arcati.
As the personalities clash, Charles's current wife Ruth is accidentally killed, "passes over," and joins Elvira and the two "blithe spirits" haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.
