Reinhardt University To Cut Ribbon On Library Renovations

The renovations at the Hill Freeman Library and Spruill Learning Center include learning space, classrooms, technology and a community room.

WALESKA, GA -- Reinhardt University will host a ribbon cutting next week to reveal its newly renovated space at Hill Freeman Library and Spruill Learning Center. The ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10.

“We are quite fortunate to be in a community where partnerships are so welcomed, and where everyone works together for a common good,” said Reinhardt President Dr. Kina S. Mallard. “With the help of Cherokee County and the Sequoyah Regional Library System, we have created a beautiful multi-use space for the Reinhardt family and community.”

The renovation was made possible by approval of the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners and the Sequoyah Regional Library System to release $1 million of voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax money. SPLOST funds are 1 percent of the county’s overall sales tax (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).

“The Board of Trustees at Reinhardt University is grateful and thankful for the wonderful community partnership,” said Reinhadrt Board of Trustees Chairman Billy Hasty. “I would like to thank everyone involved in making this possible. This effort will expand resources for our students at Reinhardt and also continue to serve our neighbors in Waleska.”

The 14,411-square-foot renovated space includes an innovative learning space, classrooms, technology and a new community room. The total square footage also includes a portion of the first level of the building. The large meeting room will enhance programming opportunities for both the University and the Waleska communities.
