Restaurant Inspections: Liquid Nicotine On Shelf, Mold Buildup

The Cherokee County Environmental Health Department conducted food service inspections Feb. 21-28 at the following locations. All establishments with grades below A have a list of their violations.

Alessandro's Italian Café and Pizzeria (Food Service Inspections)*

• Observed hand washing sink blocked by a trash can next to the stove and pizza oven. COS by moving the trash can.

• Observed open sauce buckets on the floor. All the food must be stored 6 inches off the floor. COS by moving the sauce to a cart.
• Employees must store the drinks in a designated area.
• Remarks: must clean the ice machine; make sure the cold holding is done properly; do not leave at room temperature; make sure the chicken is stored on the bottom rack (observed open carton of milk below raw chicken.

• Walls in disrepair in several areas, low grout around floor drains, closer at back door not attached; interior of cabinet at tea station does not have cleanable surface. Correct these items. Store items off floor in liquor storage room.
• Remarks: work on signatures on employee health form/sick policy; one ServSafe certificate must be posted; do not use floor drain to dump mop water -- use mop sink.
