Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Atlanta Gas Light are investigating.

The west entrance of the subdivision near River Bend Way is open.

The River Green Avenue entrance to the subdivision is closed, with traffic being re-routed to River Bend Way via Brooks Drive, fire officials said.

The road is expected to be closed for the next several hours while Atlanta Gas Light repairs the line, fire officials said.

The academy, and a few houses that were also evacuated, are going to remain evacuated until the repair is complete, fire officials said.

At about 4:45 p.m., the repair was expected to last at least two hours.
