Rotary Club of Canton Named Club of the Year

The Rotary Club of Canton was named Club of the Year for medium-sized organizations at the 2014 District Conference at Jekyll Island. 

Club President Kim Loesing also received the Rotary International Presidential Citation with Honors and a Gold Club Ribbon.  

During the conference for Rotary District 6910, the club also received the 2014 Rotary Service Award and the 2014 Rotary Foundation Award (sharing top honors with the Rotary Club of Bartow County) for medium-sized clubs.

Other recognitions include:

• the 2013-14 Public Image Award for medium-sized clubs (shared with the Rotary Clubs of Bartow County, Jasper, Lanier-Forsyth, White County, and Winder); 
• the 2013-14 Rotary International Zone 34 Public Image Citation, 2013-2014 Membership Award for medium-sized clubs (shared with 7 other Rotary clubs); 
• the 2013-14 Certificate of Excellence for Continuing Engagement with Rotary (participation in Rotary Leadership Institute; shared with the Rotary Clubs of Bartow County, Jasper, Lawrenceville, and Rome-Seven Hills); and 
• the 2013-14 District Literacy Award.

At the Rotary Foundation lunch, the Rotary Club of Canton was one of many clubs recognized for being a $100 Per Capita Club, as well as an EREY (Every Rotarian, Every Year) and 100% Paul Harris Sustaining Member Club for the fifth year in a row.  

Also recognized were new Paul Harris Society Member Becky Babcock and New Bequest Society (Level 2) Member Jerry and Sherry Cooper.  

The Canton club provided District 6910 with the most number of new benefactors — eight —as well as nine new Paul Harris Fellows or multiple Paul Harris Fellows. 

The club of the year announcement came Saturday evening, and was the fifth time in the a row the Rotary Club of Canton received the honor.

Canton Rotarian Peter Gleichman was honored with the Assistant Governor of the Year Award and on Saturday, he received Governor Anton Zellman's Main Man Award for the planning and execution of a successful conference.
