At a recent Rotary Club of Canton meeting, Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia's Manager of Faith Relations & Community Investment, Sabrina Kirkland, informed the club about a new program being launched in 2014. The new Habitat NCG Community Investment Program makes no-interest loans available for income-eligible families to make repairs on their homes. In the past, Habitat funds were available only for new home construction and larger home rehabilitation projects.
At the end of the program, the Rotary Club of Canton presented a check for $2,400.00 to Habitat North Central Georgia’s CEO, Russ Hayes, for the purchase of tools. Although not funded by a Rotary grant but consistent with the new emphasis on sustainability under the Rotary Foundation guidelines, the donation for the purchase of tools will help sustain the growth of the Habitat affiliate through the re-use of the tools to build many homes.
