School Board Recognizes Library Media Specialists of the Year

The Cherokee County School Board recently recognized the Library Media Specialist of the Year and the Innovation Zone winners.

From the Cherokee County School District: The Cherokee County School Board recently recognized the Cherokee County School District 2018 Library Media Specialist of the Year and the Innovation Zone winners.

Each Innovation Zone (a high school, middle school and its feeder elementary schools) selects a Zone Library Media Specialist of the Year, and from that group, one overall CCSD winner is selected. This year’s overall winner, which was previously announced, is Jennifer Lewis of Indian Knoll Elementary School in the Sequoyah Zone.

Zone winners are selected based on the following criteria: leadership roles, promotion of information technology utilization and literacy, promotion of reading and literature and innovative techniques used in the library media program.

The 2017-18 Innovation Zone Library Media Specialists of the Year are: Cherokee Zone - Leslie Hicks of Knox ES; Creekview Zone - Anne Thiers of Creekview HS; Etowah Zone - Jennifer Martin of Boston ES; River Ridge Zone - Linda Chapman of Mill Creek MS; Sequoyah Zone - Jennifer Lewis of Indian Knoll ES;

Woodstock Zone - Jennifer Cogdill of Woodstock HS.

As part of the recognition at the School Board meeting, the Office of Curriculum & Instruction presented each Zone winner with a celebratory banner to display at their school.
