Sequoyah High School Recognized For Academic Gains
The school was among 187 Georgia public institutions that received Highest Performing or Greatest Gains school awards.

HICKORY FLAT, GA -- Two Cherokee County School District schools have been honored by Gov. Nathan Deal for making academic gains.
Sequoyah High School has received a Gold Award and Woodstock Middle School has received a Bronze Award for Greatest Gains. Both schools are part of the 187 Georgia public institutions in 51 districts that received Highest Performing or Greatest Gains school awards.
Developed by Governor’s Office of Student Achievement and approved by the State Board of Education, the awards are part of Georgia’s Single Statewide Accountability System.

Highest Performing schools must earn a three-year average College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Achievement Score that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile. Greatest Gains schools must earn a three-year average CCRPI Progress Score that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile.
Winners received a certificate to display at their school.

“I want to congratulate all of the award-winning schools across our state, as well as the students and teachers who have worked tirelessly toward these accomplishments,” Deal said.
