Sequoyah HS JROTC Wins Silver Star Award

This award recognizes personal growth and accomplishments of the cadets with contributions from the instructors and community.

From CCSD: The Sequoyah High School Air Force JROTC Program has earned the Silver Star Award for Excellence in Community Service for the second year in a row and its 11th consecutive Distinguished Unit Award from the Department Of The Air Force!

The Silver Star Award recognizes the top 5% of nearly 900 units nationwide based on community service in support of schools and local communities. The award is earned by units with the highest per cadet average of community service hours that are planned and conducted by cadets under the supervision of our instructors. This award also recognizes the personal growth and accomplishments of the cadets, contributions of the instructors as mentors, and the support of the school and local community.

Sequoyah High School is one of 276 units to receive the 2017-18 Air Force JROTC Distinguished Unit Award this year of the nearly 900 units that compete for this recognition. This award recognizes Air Force JROTC units that have performed well above and beyond normal expectations, and that have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to their school and community while meeting the Air Force JROTC citizen development mission for America.
