The band will perform “The Wall, A Vietnam Memorial” Sept. 18 as its half-time show during the Sequoyah vs. River Ridge high school football game.

The award-winning band, under the direction of Director Casey Eubanks, has been preparing for the past month to present the program in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

“The show will illustrate how divisions regarding our nation’s involvement in Vietnam tragically and inappropriately caused many to vent their frustrations against the men and women in uniform who selflessly answered the call to serve,” Eubanks said.

The idea for this special tribute came after the band’s visit to Washington, D.C. last year. At the end of the program, the band hopes to recognize several veterans including Vietnam War veterans.

The band student leadership includes section leaders Yejin Heo, Austin Hicks, Jackson Severino, Liz Peters, Eric Jacoby, Andrew Bland, Jon Wooldridge, Eliana Hyatt, and Kobe Greene. The color guard captains are Allison Reid, Sydney Kyle, and Katie Clayton.

The drum captains are Greg Grande, Bryce Porter, and Donovan Giardina. The band captain is Mason Trimbach, and the drum major is Connor Lawson.
