Shannon Wallace Named to 40 Under 40 List

The district attorney in Cherokee County was named to Georgia Trend magazine's flagship 2013 Forty Under Forty list.

Cherokee County's own Shannon Wallace has been named to Georgia Trend magazine's 2013 Forty Under Forty list.

Wallace, who lives in Woodstock, told the magazine serving as a prosector "is all she ever wanted to do."

Wallace, 36, said she was "so fortunate to be afforded the opportunity to make a difference in my community and in the lives of Georgia citizens."

"It is both a privilege and a great responsibility to be charged with seeking justice for victims while protecting the rights of the accused," she added of her position. "I am very honored by this recognition and want to thank my staff for supporting my vision and working tirelessly on behalf of Cherokee County victims."

Wallace was elected as district attorney for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, which encompasses all of Cherokee County, in 2012 after long-time District Attorney Garry Moss decided to retire.

Before that, she served as assistant district attorney between 2008 and 2012. Before coming to Cherokee, she served as an assistant district attorney for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit between 2002 and 2008.

She received her bachelor's in criminal justice and psychology from the University of Georgia in 1999 and completed UGA's School of Law in 2002. 

She and husband Kyle have two children.
