Solar Eclipse 2017: CCSD Students Blend Learning With Fun (PHOTOS)

The 2017 celestial occurrence also sent thousands of residents to northeast Georgia to experience the eclipse in the path of totality.

CANTON, GA -- Students throughout the Cherokee County School District got to experience Monday's historic total solar eclipse with activities that blended learning and, of course, fun.

The 2017 eclipse blanketed moved into Cherokee around 2:36 p.m. Aug. 21, and each classroom teacher developed a class plan for learning about the eclipse, and lessons ranged from science experiments to creating eclipse-inspired art to enjoying moon pies and Sun Chips while observing the eclipse.

All classes that planned activities to observe the eclipse outside provided students with eclipse glasses (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).
