'Sovereign Citizen' Arrested At Library With Knife, Pepper Spray

A man from Canton was arrested Tuesday at Sequoyah Regional Library after he refused to leave the library, Sheriff's deputies said.

CANTON, GA — A local man known as a "sovereign citizen" to law enforcement was arrested Tuesday for criminal trespass at a Canton library.

On Tuesday afternoon, Cherokee Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a silent alarm at the Sequoyah Regional Library on East Cherokee Drive. Employees at the library told deputies they were alarmed by a man who they said was wearing military style pants, boots, a backpack, was flashing Georgia Concealed Carry Permit and speaking of governmental corruption.

Deputies found Christian Holm, 38 of Canton, with whom they were already familiar with from previous incidents. Deputies asked Holm to leave the library several times, but he refused.

Deputies told Holm if he didn't leave the property he would be arrested. Holm refused to leave and was then placed under arrest.

A search revealed a large folding knife, a recording device and a large can of pepper spray in Holm's possession.

Holm was charged with criminal trespass and is currently at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

Currently, Holm does not have a bond because he is refusing to allow deputies to book him into the detention facility, the department said.
