State Superintendent Recognizes Principals For Winning Awards
Free Home Elementary School Principal Karen Carl and Woodstock Elementary Principal Rachel Wasserman were commended by Richard Woods.

CANTON, GA -- Two Cherokee County School District leaders recently were recognized by the State Superintendent of Schools for winning statewide awards.
State Superintendent Richard Woods recognized Free Home Elementary School Principal Karen Carl, 2016 Georgia Distinguished Principal; and Woodstock Elementary School Assistant Principal Rachel Wasserman, the Georgia 2016 National Distinguished Assistant Principal.
Both leaders were surprised with their honors earlier this year by the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals.

Carl is one of only two principals statewide this year to be named a 2016 Georgia Distinguished Principal, an award that included a $1,000 grant.
The award earned by Wasserman, which included a $500 grant, is presented to only one assistant principal in Georgia each year, and honorees are selected for successful leadership.
