Summer Internship Program Launched In Cherokee County
The program for high school juniors and seniors is a partnership between the Cherokee Workforce Collaborative and the school district.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee Workforce Collaborative, a community partnership created by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development the bolster the county's crop of skilled workers and meet the needs of existing and future industry, is teaming up with the Cherokee County School District to launch the area's first-ever paid Summer Internship Program for high school juniors and seniors.
The six-week internship program features a select group of Cherokee-based employers, including FactoryMation, Jaipur Living, Maxis Engineering, NeoMed Inc., R&D Mechanical Services, Roytec Industries LLC, Universal Alloy Corporation, and the YANMAR EVO//CENTER.
“Cherokee’s mentorship-based internship program is a great way for students to gain real-world experience within a wide range of career pathways and fine-tune their skills,” said Chris Sizemore, Workforce Collaborative Internships Committee member and vice-president of operations at Roytec. “Roytec Industries is proud to partner with the Cherokee Workforce Collaborative in providing high school students with an invaluable internship experience that prepares this generation of students for tomorrow’s workforce.”

Benefits of the program include providing participants real-world paid work experience; showcasing an interactive work environment focused on mentorship; early exposure to a wide variety of career pathways; references for those who do a great job; the "notoriety" of being part of the inaugural program; resume-building experience; and a rewarding summer job close to home.
