Suspect Indicted in Fatal Restaurant Shooting
Ylarrio Garcia Jarquin is accused of killing Edel Cortes Mendoza inside Taqueria Oaxaquena restaurant in Canton.

CANTON, GA -- The Canton resident accused of gunning down a man as he ate a meal inside a restaurant has been indicted in connection to the July incident.
A Cherokee County grand jury last week indicted Ylarrio Garcia Jarquin on one count each of malice murder, felony murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and two counts of aggravated assault.
According to the indictment, Jarquin is accused of shooting Edel Cortes Mendoza July 28 in the torso, abdomen and thigh with a Kahr .40 caliber handgun.

He's also accused of pointing the handgun in the direction of another patron inside Taqueria Oaxaquena restaurant during the fatal encounter.
Officers with the Canton Police Department were dispatched to a call of a person shot around 7:40 p.m. July 28 at the restaurant, which is located at 491 Marietta Road. Those first responders arrived to find Mendoza, 41, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he died from his injuries.

A perimeter was established surrounding the restaurant, and Jarquin was subsequently located by police within that area.
Jarquin is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges at 9 a.m. Nov. 10.
