4. Some parents emailed Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch editor Jessie Gable on Thursday about rumored layoffs at . Lyn Michaels-Carden, who sits on the school's governing board, had this to say in an email to Canton-Sixes Patch:

"Cherokee Charter Academy operates as an at-will employer," she said. "Each employee is extended a letter as an offer of employment for one year (for example for the current school year the offer would be for the 2011-2012 school year) at the end of the year they will either be offered another one year or they will not. The offers for next year were issued earlier this week. A small group of staff members were not extended offers for next year. All decisions are made in the best interest of students and we cannot comment on any human resource issues."
