For the past few weeks, every Cherokee County fire station was a donation center for the toy drive, which officially kicked off Dec. 4 at the March For The Toys Parade for Toys For Tots in Ball Ground.

At the close of the driver, thousands of toys were dropped off in donation boxes and garbage bags at various county fire stations.

“Words cannot describe the outpouring of love, generosity, teamwork, support and dedication that this entire Fire Department and the citizens of Cherokee County have shown for the children who are in need this year,” said Cherokee County Fire Chief Tim Prather.

Cherokee County fire recruits last week hosted an event at the Cherokee County Fire Training Center that also helped three families in our county. Those recruits collected and provided toys, food, clothing, free haircuts and gift cards to each family to help them through the holiday season.

One of the family members stated that she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of help, and was very thankful for the help given so generously by the firefighters.
