Woman Dies In Cherokee County Crash

A Dodge Durango was traveling southbound on Ga. 140 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree in northwest Cherokee County.

WALESKA, GA -- A Pickens County woman died early Tuesday morning in a crash along Ga. 140 near the Cherokee-Bartow county line. Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched around 7:33 a.m. to the crash on Reinhardt College Parkway in the vicinity of Greeley Drive.

They arrived to find a silver Dodge Durango, which appeared to have been traveling southbound when it left the roadway and hit a tree, said sheriff's office spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley.

The driver of the Durango, Jennifer Allgood, 29, of Jasper, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office's Traffic Enforcement Unit.
