Woman Dies When Car Crashes Into Guardrail, Goes Down Embankment

The 47-year-old Canton woman died Wednesday along Interstate 575 near the Marble Quarry Road overpass in Holly Springs.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA — A Canton woman died Wednesday afternoon when her vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into an embankment in Cherokee County. Holly Springs police were dispatched to the call of the single-vehicle crash around 3:28 p.m. Dec. 27 in the area of Interstate 575 northbound near the Marble Quarry Road overpass.

Officers arrived to find a Mitsubishi Eclipse in the embankment. A preliminary report suggest the driver, identified as 47-year-old Felicia Michiaels, was traveling on the road when she left the highway, hit a guardrail and "came to rest down an embankment," Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley said.

Michiaels was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The Cherokee Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigation the cause of the crash at the request of the Holly Springs Police Department.
