Woman Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash In Cherokee County

A 20-year-old male suffered minor injuries and a female juvenile was not injured in the March 28 accident near Ball Ground.

CANTON, GA — A Ball Ground woman died early Wednesday in an accident involving two vehicles in Cherokee County. Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched around 6:18 a.m. March 28 to the crash on Ga. 372/Ball Ground Highway at Jordan Road, which is just south of the Nelson city limits.

An initial investigation shows a Toyota pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Joseph Handel of Jasper was traveling southbound on Ball Ground Highway and tried to turn left onto Jordan Road when it struck a Chevrolet Tahoe, which was traveling northbound on Ball Ground Highway.

That collision caused the Tahoe to flip over on its roof. The driver of the Tahoe, Dylan Robertson, 20, of Ball Ground, received minor injuries while a female juvenile was not injured. Unfortunately, another passenger inside the vehicle, 21-year-old Kirsten Robertson, 21, of Ball Ground, later died from injuries sustained in the collision, the sheriff's office said. Handel was not injured in the crash, spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley said.
