Brewery Turns From Beer To Water To Help Flood Victims
The Anheuser-Busch plant in Cartersville, Ga., is shipping thousands of cans of water to severe weather victims in Texas and Oklahoma.
A company dedicated to providing its customers with fresh, crisp beer is turning its attention to helping those who are in need of a basic life necessity.
On Thursday, Anheuser-Busch’s brewery in Cartersville, Ga., stepped up to the plate and produced thousands of cans of water, which will be shipped to Oklahoma and Texas to help residents who are coping with the aftermath of record flooding and tornadoes.
The water production is part of the company’s semi-annual run of emergency water it distributes to disaster-stricken areas of the country, an initiative it undertakes in partnership with the American Red Cross.

“Relief workers and people in the community are in need of drinking water as they work to recover from the storms, and this is one way Anheuser-Busch can help our friends and neighbors,” said Rob Haas, senior general manager of Anheuser-Busch Brewery at Cartersville.
Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch has donated more than 73 million cans of emergency drinking water following natural and other disasters, the company said.

According to NBC News, American Red Cross spokesperson Jordan Scott said the relief organization is working with Anheuser-Busch to figure out the logistics of delivering water to the areas that need it the most.
“Oklahoma and Texas are in an unprecedented situation,” Scott told the news outlet. “There are a lot of folks in need and everyone’s coming forward to help out.”
CNN.com reports at least 37 people have died in the severe weather events over the last five days. That tally includes 17 in Texas, six in Oklahoma and 14 in the northern part of Mexico. Several people also remain missing in Texas, CNN states.
