Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:
- The new 59,000-square-foot Food City store on Joe Frank Harris Parkway just below the 41/411 split will have a large grab-and-go area, bakery, hot bar, Starbucks, floral, pharmacy and a seven-pump gas island. Total employment will be around 200 and as of this week, recruiting was continuing. Ground was broken in February, but no opening date has been announced. (Northwest Georgia News)
- Georgia State Patrol Troopers responded to a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 41 at Baker Road. According to the report, a motorcycle was traveling south on Highway 41 and a pickup truck was traveling west on Baker Road. The driver of the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to stop for the red traffic light and was struck by the truck. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Grady Hospital by helicopter where he was pronounced deceased. (WRGA)
- At the American Red Cross' request, Anheuser-Busch is delivering emergency drinking water to support Florida communities in relief efforts for Hurricane Ian. The drinking water is sourced from the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Cartersville which periodically pauses beer production throughout the year to can emergency drinking water. (WebWire)
