Cartersville volleyball wins Region 7-5A opener (bartowsportszone.com) — Cartersville High's volleyball team opened Region 7-5A play strong, sweeping Pepperell and rallying past Dalton in four sets on the road. Local standouts like Amara Ejieke and Brooke Belarmino led the way, and the Lady Canes now look ahead to Thursday's matches at North Paulding against both North Paulding and Newnan.

The Bartow History Museum Presents From Spirituals To Freedom (wbhfradio.org) — Cartersville residents can enjoy a free musical evening on August 29 when the Bartow History Museum brings Sparky and Rhonda Rucker's "From Spirituals to Freedom: Building America" to The Grand Theater downtown. The program blends music, storytelling, and history to explore spirituals, folk songs, and their role in American culture as part of a national humanities initiative.
   

4. Robert Ledford Jr. (polktoday.com) — Cartersville is mourning the loss of 69-year-old Robert Edward Ledford Jr., a U.S. Army veteran, artist, and storyteller who spent most of his life in the community. He is remembered for his whimsical spirit and artwork displayed around town, and a graveside memorial with military honors is planned August 27 at Georgia National Cemetery.
