Man's Body Pulled From Lake Allatoona
Family members say the Canton resident was swimming near Gatewood Park when he went under and never resurfaced.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Another body has been recovered from Lake Allatoona in Bartow County.
Bartow Emergency Medical Services crews responded to a call of a possible drowning Saturday afternoon at Gatewood Park, which is located off Bartow Beach Road in unincorporated Cartersville.
Once crews arrived on the scene, they were told by the victim's family that they were "all swimming when a male went under the water and never returned to the surface," said Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division officers arrived on the scene and began to search for the man. Shortly after that search began, crews recovered the body. The victim, identified as 36--year-old Miguel Ajpop-Diaz of Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene, Cothran added.
Georgia DNR spokesperson Mark McKinnon said the discovery was made at 5:16 p.m. across from Park Marina on the lake, and noted rangers continue to investigate the incident.

It's the second body that's been recovered from the lake this week. On Wednesday, the body of a female child was discovered by fisherman near the Interstate 75 overpass. Bartow County sheriff's investigators, along with East Point police, are waiting on whether the body is that of 7-year-old Kamaire Wash.
Her father and his live-in girlfriend, Michael Deon Wash and Lasherae Davis, are charged in connection to her apparent death.
