Man arrested after Red Lobster standoff (daily-tribune.com) — Cartersville police and the city's SWAT team arrested a Red Lobster employee after a tense restroom standoff Thursday night, where he claimed to be armed and threatened self-harm. Officers ultimately used gas and less-lethal rounds to end the incident, adding local obstruction and reckless conduct charges to serious warrants from Euharlee.
   

2. Ex-Cartersville police officer accused of stealing money from evidence room (wsbtv.com) — Cartersville residents are learning that a former city police officer has been arrested after state investigators say she stole cash from the department's evidence room while serving as an officer and custodian. The GBI's probe is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact investigators as the case heads toward review by the Bartow County district attorney.
   

3. A Fright to Remember! (gbj.com) — Cartersville thrill-seekers can test their nerves at The Farm of Fears, which sends guests through creepy woods, abandoned structures, and a haunted corn maze after dark. It's one of several Georgia haunts highlighted statewide, giving locals a nearby option plus ideas for spooky road trips this October.
   

4. Georgia DNR, Partners Announce Deal To Restore Pine Log WMA (chattanoogan.com) — Bartow County leaders, including Cartersville's state representatives, helped secure a deal to permanently protect and reopen over 14,000 acres of Pine Log Wildlife Management Area for public recreation and wildlife habitat. With state and local funding, most of it in Bartow County, the WMA is slated to reopen by spring 2027 for hunters, hikers, and nature lovers.
   

5. Thursday's softball roundup: Cartersville continues to roll at Dalton (bartowsportszone.com) — Cartersville softball fans can celebrate another strong outing as the Lady Canes notched their 15th Region 7-5A win with a dominant pitching performance and big bats against Dalton. The roundup also tracks tough losses for Adairsville, Woodland, and Cass, and highlights when several local teams, including Cartersville, return to the field early next week.
