• Man dies in car's collision with parked tractor-trailer on side of interstate (wsbtv.com) — A 26-year-old Cartersville man was killed early Saturday when his Mazda left the right lane of I-75 north in Cobb County and struck a parked tractor-trailer in the gore area near the I-575 interchange. Cobb County's S.T.E.P. Unit is investigating and asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them. 
• Lady Canes, Hurricanes run 10th at Pickens Preview (bartowsportszone.com) — Cartersville's girls' and boys' cross country teams both placed 10th at the competitive Pickens Preview meet in Jasper, highlighted by top-20 finishes from Sydney Burris and Ethan Empie. The Hurricanes and Lady Canes now turn their attention to this Saturday's Bob Blastow Invitational in Douglasville, giving local fans another chance to follow their progress.
